Preventing The Flu

How can I prevent catching the flu? There is no way to guarantee that you will not get the flu, but a flu shot will give you a good chance of not catching the flu virus. For the last flu season, the Center for Disease Control estimated the overall effectiveness of the 2017-2018 flu vaccine against both influenza A and B viruses was 40%.
If I am healthy enough to go and get a flu shot, as many of us are, I think 40% effectiveness is worth it to me.

Chiropractic Care Improves The Immune System

With a strong nerve flow patients are better equipped to fight any potential flu or cold. Do Flu Shots Really Work?

There are a lot of people that believe that a flu shot will get make you sick. The flu shot is not made up of a real virus. For people that think you can get the flu from a flu shot, well that is not true. If somehow you get sick right after getting a flu vaccine, it was just very bad timing. Flu shots do really work, however they do not work for all strains of the virus. This is why some people that do get the flu shot still end up getting sick. The good thing is that each year, the flu vaccine does protect you and your family against three or four different flu viruses.

Catching The Flu or Cold

Remember we are exposed to different viruses and bacteria every day. At any time these could cause you to get sick. The body’s defense system when healthy, fights off and protects when it is healthy. We get sick when our body’s immune system is weak or our system is weakened by a medical condition. A properly functioning body is a healthy body and ready to defend the cold and flu. Making routine visits to your Chiropractor will ensure that the nerve pathways between your organs and your brain open and healthy by keeping your spine in alignment and the nerves free from impingement.
